I’m loving the Tobii mobile device stand. It’s a little bit fidgety at times to configure, but it’s far more elegant than the DIY-looking iterations from before and it’s a fine example of Swedish precision metal construction.
But the only major niggle I had about the stand is their adhesive strips they give you. Firstly, they only give you 10 (I know you can buy more, but I hate consumables!), and secondly because I do dry runs on the phone that I use every day, having to fight with those sticky things every time will get old fast.
So here’s the solution:
I found a cheap mobile phone case on eBay for a couple of quid (the hard plastic ones, not soft silicone) and stuck the case onto the small mounting plates using only one of the adhesive strips. Then if I need to do a quick test using my everyday phone, I just pop it in, do my test, and pop it back out again.
No fuss. No muss. And no sticky fingers.
